I need to order my new company car.

We have a Employee car ownership scheme which has some really strange rules.

I am given a benchmark car and I can add to it upto a 30% uplift. (which will give me a monthly payment)

The maximum P11d value of the car including options is £30841.(this is inclusive of the 30% uplift)

I will do around 30K miles a year in it and I cover an area of the country stretching from North Wales all the way upto the North of Scotland. I drive to Edinburgh lots but any further north I will generally fly.

I was about to order a Jaguar XE 2.0 Rsport Petrol Auto a few months ago but I have been driving a VW Tiguan Auto for the last few months and I cant help think that a 4x4 is really practical for the areas of the country I cover.

I'm getting a load of pressure to order a car now as the hire car I am driving is costing a fortune.

As a curve ball I can also buy a used car upto a year old but it still has to have an original P11D value under the £30841

My minimum Requirements are:
Sat Nav
Auto Gearbox
Cruise
A bit of Power.
Be Comfortable on long journeys
Return 30mpg as a petrol or 40mpg as a diesel

I can't think of a decent crossover\4x4 which fits in these parameters.

If having a saloon I would rather be in a 5 series\XF sized car but they are just out of budget.

A Hybrid would be a way to 'Game' the petrol allowance fee they pay as they pay a higher ppm for petrol cars but again I have no experience of them.

Any bright ideas?

Octavia VRS ESTATE 4x4 with DSG Box.
Quick, economical performance and looks pretty cool too.
P11d is 28.9k inc premium for met paint, the solid red is nice too.

Superb Hatch SE L Executive 2.0 TDI 190ps DSG 4x4 £30,220.

Basically this. It's amazing how little you get with a P11D of £30k but this is probably the best way of doing it - efficient, comfortable, refined and 4wd.

A top of the range Skoda is better than a bottom of the range BMW or Audi.

I had a previous generation Superb for a month and have also had an Octavia for about a week. Didn't really get on with either of them to be honest.
The seats in the Octavia were no good for my back and I just wasn't a fan of the look of the superb.
The new one does look better though. Will have a look into that.

£30K is a rubbish budget. It buys hardly anything.

Meh, I was doing 28k in Northern Ireland and the Republic, neither really known for having quality motorways.

I've got a dodgy back and just don't get on with the seats of loads of cars to be honest.

I get on really well with BMW Msport seats for instance but Audi seats have always been rubbish for me.

Don't discount the superb based on the previous Gen. As you say the looks have improved a lot.

It's a tough budget to get absolutely everything in your requirements, it looks like something is going to have to be compromised. :(

I've just taken delivery of my Discovery Sport in HSE trim which I'm really enjoying so far but it's too early to give a decent review of. The SE 150bhp model is manual and comes in at £30,695 interestingly enough, not sure what if anything else that comes with spec wise though!

Other interesting options might be the Lexus IS or the NX.

I would like a Discovery sport to be honest but I couldn't deal with a manual box which I would have to have

The NX is a nice car too and would stack up really will with my mileage rate but I could only have an absolute base spec model which wouldn't do.
