spec me a card for under £100

I am thinking of replacing my 9500gt with something a little more up to date.

I dont play anything particularly up to date right now, (world of tanks is my current game of choice) but fancy maybe making it look a bit better (its running on very low settings right now) and having a go with Borderlands 2.

I have a Q8300 chip, with 4 gb ram.

There is a 6xxx card in B grade for 100 notes, is it any good or am I better with either a new 7xxx or a 650?

If not save your pennies and get a 7850 2gb. Also upgrade to 8gb ram there's no excuse with prices as they are.

For Boarderlands 2 your better off sticking with Nvidia for Physx, unless you don't care about that?

You dont need 8gb ram though do you. 4gb is fine for games.

a rig that old is possible on XP 32 bit so more than 4 is a waste anyway

No it isn't. I thought that and was happily running 4gb Radioactive (split from a 6gb tri channel kit). Then I loaded up NFS : Shift and got a really rude message in red text saying I did not have enough memory for my selected settings (8Xmsaa).

Added in another 8gb bringing me to 12gb and bingo bongo, 8xmsaa loveliness.

At £30 or so it's well worth adding more memory if he's on DDR3.

I do have Win7 though, upgraded that at the same time I bought a SSD 2 years ago.

I would say for the most part, 4gb of ram is fine seeing as you don't play a wide range of titles. However, I would look into overclocking the cpu. It'll be worth your time, since it will allow the graphics card to deliver better performance.

Look into overclocking your cpu. It'll be worth it.

You can use core temp to monitor the temps.
