hi all,
time to upgrade my gfx, would like to use on my hd tv32" havent got a bucket ful lof money so im looking around £100
just started playing games in pc come across form ps2
currently playing crysis.

thanks guys

To be honest i don't think it will look great on an HDTV. Judging by the size im guessing its a 720p TV? (could be wrong here). And TV's dont always display PC resolutions the same as the TV's native res.

E.g. My 720p HDTV can only do 1024x768 from a PC, so everything looks pretty crappy on it if im running it of a PC.

yes my tv can only do 1024x768 which i was jsut looking at!! which got my brain ticking overtime!!
is it worth going hd graphics card or jsut buy a normal crad which is higher spec?
plus to get full hd quality i would also have to buy a cable to go from dvi to hdmi thus spending more

Does your TV have a VGA/DVI connector on the back? You don't need an HDMI cable to get an HD picture from the computer. Either way, the resolution will stay the same at 1024x768, which is just below HD quality i think :(

yes has vga, jsut found manual and had quick look hahaha 1 inch thick book and only 8 pages in english typical!!!
but it did say HD ready but doesnt say 720 or 1080 but does say res at 1366x768.
im thinking now for what im gonna be doing with it maybe HD is abit over the top when i could just buy a normal card????

Every graphics card is basically HD ready anyway. HD is only a resolution: 720p = 1280x720, 1080p = 1920x1080. Most graphics cards can do those resolutions, doing them well is a different story. Some cards now come with HDMI, but it is far from essential if your TV has a VGA port. The picture will be the exact same, only some people will argue that HDMI has a better quality, but at the res your TV supports, it would be barely noticeable.

ok so with hd out the way, next would be im also thinking going to vista soon in the future, does that make a difference on which card?
whould i need to go for higher core or higher memory and which brand is better value for money as i see OCvalue cards with same kinda spec as others

sorry forgot to add, i notice most cards require a power source would i need to upgrade my psu. i have now a antec 450w which came with my sonata case

would i be daft in thinking if i bought 2 cards but at slighty lower spec and run duel cards would i get the same performance?
and what is the real advantage of duel cards ?!!!

use component to the tv, or HDMI, then you can enable HDTV resolutions in catalyst to get native 720p

Ah yes this is true. My 8800GTS came with a component adapter which would allow HD quality.

I wouldn't get two cards, waste of money and lots of games don't support dual setups.

ok think i know now what to do, thanks for the replys guys new graphics card coming soon then!!!
cant wait bcos playing crysis now is awsome.

thanks all
