Spec me a card

Wifeys Ati X1800 XT has just died - its a connect 3d and I cant even remember where I bought it from so no doubt my warranty has as much life in it as the card.

Don't want to take a step back but she doesn't need the ultimate in performance.

Would the X1950 pro be an improvement and is it quiet?

Must be at least as quiet as the current card.

The 1950 pro is not much of a step back in performance. I don't think your women would see the difference between them at all. Since the 1800 cards were classed as pretty loud i think the pro would probably be quieter.

Didn't realise the pro was a backwards step - anyone recommend any other card - prefer Ati as I cant be bothered with deleting drivers and re-installing?

And if you get the 512Mb version then probably nothing in it at all.

As for another card, the next ATI is a massive leap in both performance and price 2900pro for £170.

So either get the 1950pro or look for a 2nd hand x1800xt,x1900xt etc.

Simply choice 2900 pro or a 8800gts 320mb one.In my eyes thats if your spend the extra cash on her .

2900 pro or 8800GT (£110 - £160) is the more expensive choices.
