Morning all!

Need to upgrade the GF's pc to be able to start getting it's teeth into decent games. Current requirement is Tomb Raider Underworld, with some sideline interest in FarCry 1/2.

Want to spend around £40-£50, and will happily move into the second-hand market if there's something there thats a decent chunk better.

Current card is (for some reason I put there which completely escapes me now) X1300, I think it's 256mb. PCI-E

Thanks!

If you can push your budget a bit, the 4670 is worth looking at. Come with GDDR3 memory rather than DDR2 on the 4650 and below so is pretty good.

Thanks - too much really and don't seem to be many 2nd hand around.

I'm currently looking at 8600GTs which seem to be around the right price range. Presumiably there is absolutely no point in going for 1GB over 512M when gaming on 1280x1024?

or would a 9500GT be better?

Heya M8t....Im in the same boat as you. Im not wanting to throw allot of cash around as im going traveling in 6months..and my only real use is Eve. But my GFX card has died and i want a quick yet cheap replacment...Im just wondering if its worth waiting a little for the crimbo sales.

how about that HD2900XT ? for like £30 featured in another thread on this fourm ? no idea how it scales to a 9600 through >_>
