Spec Me A Card

Hi Guys,

I have between £100 and £150 to spend on a new card. I game at 1680x1050 and I would like to play newish game at decent settings. I'm no hardcore gamer, hence the budget.

I've been looking at 6770s and 6850/70s, but the last gaming card I had was a 2900XT, so I'm a little out of touch. Are the 6800s worth the £50 more than 6770s, will I see a noticeable difference?

In honesty, I'd much rather spend £100 than £150

Best card for £100 would be either this or this. Take your pick as they're both much of a muchness, and both quite a bit better than the slightly stunted 6770 with its 128 bit memory bandwidth.

So the 128bit interface on the 6770 is likely going to result in a performance hit then?

I didn't realise you could still get GTX460s... My system is rather quiet at the moment and I'd quite like to keep it that way. Which of the cards you linked to would run cooler?

+1 for the 1GB GTX460. Decent midrange card and overclocks brilliantly.

For £100-120-or-so - wait for the HD7750/HD7770 in 2 weeks or so.

As for the 7 Series, I didn't think the lower models were available until March/April time?

Those are the 78's - the 77's are due in a couple of weeks - and are in the price range specified - the 78's will be nearly £100 more.
