Spec me a card

AMD or Nvidia, I don't care. Only run 1080p on the TV or 1050 on my monitor. Both only 60hz. Was thinking about GTX770, 7970, R9 280X etc etc

Would these cards be wasted on this resolution? Could I get cheaper for my needs?

280x is a rebranded 7970, either will better than the 770 in terms of price/performance.

The 7970s are more or less gone, but the 280X (the same, as above) has good deals including BF4 right now. It's the best option until you get to ~£300.
