Righty, 1st and main goal of my very slow upgrade is to make my pc quiet, cool, and overclockable.. This im hoping to achieve with good airflow and watercooling.

Current spec is BFG 680i, e6600 + cnps9500, 1gig corsair, 76gt + vf900, hiper (bah) 1 hdd, 1 optical drive, and akasa optical bay fan controller.

The ram will be upgraded to 2 gig, my corsair 620w will be arriving very soon ( :D ) and i think i'm going to wait untill 89xx is available before i upgrade the gfx.

I have 2 120mm silenx fans, and these are awesome, definately recommend these, and my watercooling will hopefully consist of 1 loop (not cooling gfx) of pump -> cpu -> nb -> 120.2 rad -> Bay res, although nb -> cpu looks a bit neater.. may go that way..

The question:

I'd like a case that will allow me to mount the whole w/c kit inside the case, preferably with the 120.2 mounted at the top with a couple of holes cut out. Would also lilke the case to not be cramped, and ideally be a midi tower, although i'm not holding out for this with my ideas

I think the lian li's look rather bland, but as i have played with them before, their build quality is 2nd to none, so if anyone knows of a lian li that looks very 'sleek' Doesnt have to be lian li though... (currently have, and really like the look of, a thermaltake swing)

Prefer matt black, but silver/aluminiium is good too, not looking for any funky coloured cases.. oh yeah, a side window is a must for me :)

Cheers for taking time to read this.. any comments appreciated,

Phil

As much as that is a fantastic case, i'm one picky son of a *****, and the front isn't to my liking :(

I absolutely love the style of the lian li v2000, black or silver, both look stunning, and being lian li, there is obviousley not going to be any issues with quality.. or size in this cases.. err.. case ( scuse the pun  ) - Its just too big, and there's no side window :( although that could be modded, have the option to mount the rad at the bottom then too... Bah, this is always my least fav part about building a pc.. i can never choose :|

Aah sweet, im assuming overclockers dont stock them then.. or am i being blind...

Also, is the v1000 the smaller version of the v2000? except btx, or is the v2000 btx too?

Scuse all my questions

Nope, OCUK don't sell them. Yup, the v1000 is the smaller cousin of the v2000. Neither of them are BTX, just inverted ATX. Both of them are great cases.

they should change the description on the v1000.. sure i just read that it was btx :o

EDIT:
The case takes advantage of the BTX thermal design by mounting the motherboard upside down

close :p

Hehe, yeah that description is a bit confusing. But the v1000/v2000 are still ATX, just an inverted ATX design. The BTX was origionally designde to figh the heat caused by some of the later Pentium designs, was as the newer chips are more efficient, this design is no longer needed and is unlikely to become very widespread.

After quite a bit of thought, i think i am going to go for a v1000, still not sure whether to get it in black or silver though... Does the silver one come with a window and the black one not.. as per the pics of the cases?

And would ths case fit the my spec (in original post..)

Cheers guys,

Phil

No, neither come with windows. You'll have to get the window separately. I bought a silver V1000 with a window yesterday. I'm giddy like a school girl waiting for it to arrive. :D

The main fitment issue in the V1000 is the PSU. If you have a particularly long PSU you'll have a rough time making it fit.

Corsair 620w.. should be ok :) plus im going to remove the hdd barys so that me 120.2 rad can fit... I would ask you where you got your case window from.. but i'm not allowed :(

Yes everything should fit. You might have to remove some of the lower drivebays to fit the PSU, but this is simply a case of removing some screws and sliding the bays out. Neither the black or the Silver V1000 case come with a window. The images on OCUK are incorrect. You will have to track down the optional windowed sidepanel from elsewhere. And science has proved that black is the best btw. ;)

Funnily enough, i saw the v2000 in some pic somewhere in the background, and thought it looked the dogs knackers, found it, wanted it, then saw the v1000, and wanted it more... then saw it in black, and no one can change my mind :D
