I've played a few mmo's (age of conan, LotRO) since I lost 2 years to wow.

I'm looking for a good casual mmo that I can play in little bits and still feel rewarded and also has decent graphics to look at.

What would you suggest, is there anything new? I have a craving to be a healer type and maybe perhaps pvp

Also has age of conan improved? I may go back to that (the first 10 levels didn't grab me though when I played it near release)

Maybe Guildwars? Nice Graphics only need to pay once, you can make a pvp only character straight way, and make normal one take your time questing and lvling.

Conan is excellent for a F2P title looks lovely to.

Once your out of the the starter area it really does open up a bit, you do this at about level 19.

Its also quite PvP focused as a game but the PVE content is good from what I've seen.

They have just launched a Blood & Glory server, no city guards at all so its free for all PvP pretty much at all times, if your really really into PvP.

SWTOR and GW2 are out soonish.

But if you want to play now, Age of Conan is probably a good bet, apparently it has come on leaps and bounds from the release (the starter zone probably hasn't changed much)

Eh? Is there even a release date for GW2?

OP, I would add Rift to the suggestions. I don't get a lot of time to play MMOs but even I managed to max out a character and it's a fantastic game too.

Rift is Really good, i just started it, on my 6th day on the trial so far and its a great game, looks amazing with everything cranked up too ^^

Don't play rift if you like pvp, casually your looking at months of being one shotted by players who exploited to top rank and gear.

You'll probably have to wait a little while yet for GW2, but SWTOR is likely only a couple of months away. I think it's a fairly safe bet that SWTOR will be very accessible to casual players.

AoC is the best-looking f2p game imo, probably followed by LotRO. I haven't played either game recently, so I can't vouch for their casual appeal, but I know for instance that both games have introduced scalable solo dungeons/instances.

I'm not sure about Rift (I stopped playing recently). It's a beautiful game and extremely polished, but it isn't that casual-friendly imo. PvE-wise gearing up for endgame content is much harsher than say wow atm and pvp is a nothing but a long grind for pvp ranks and gear. The last patch added some pvp content, so that may have changed a little (but tbh I doubt that they'll fundamentally change the model: progression at max-lvl by slowly grinding out better gear, which has a huge impact on performance).

im gonna give AoC a try as im ill with food poisening at the moment so if u fancy a leeling partner Oxide? im probably gonna go bear shaman as ive always played hybrid healers

was a druid in pacifism on wow for a few years :D

add me on steam :D

Dont play AoC unless you are expecting to pay a fee. The FTP model is a lie, and severely overpriced compared to GW / Turbine games.

Guild Wars, DDO and Lotro are all good ones to try.

Thanks I'll add you but I'm going to give Rift a try veeeery casually :)

Why is it a lie?

Unlocks are per character, not per account. They cost around 10x more real money than what turbine charge for account wide unlocks.

The amount of FTP content is very limited, and at the prices they charge to unlock content its pretty much either get a subscription or pay 1-2 years worth of fees for single character quest unlocks.

In Lotro / DDO, you can also earn cash store points in game and unlock stuff completely for free. In Guild Wars you pay once and play the content free forever. AoC cannot call itself a FTP MMO when players are so restricted, or hugely overcharged in getting content unless they pay a subscription. AoC FTP is more like WoW's FTP trial up to level 20 - try the game out, if you want more pay the subscription fee. Not really great for casual gamers.

All the outdoor PVE content is available on a Conan F2P account and some instanced encounters are also included. There is enough content to level you from 1-80 with quests to spare.

The only outside content missing from the F2P are the level 80 zones which were included in the expansion, the starter area of the expansion (for levels 20-40 is included in the F2P).

While I agree the unlocks are annoyingly tied to chars rather than account, there is more than enough content to keep casual players happy in the F2P Conan World.

Have a look here here for details

I played the FTP part of AoC on a level 28-36 ish character, and there was a lot of content missing that I would have liked to have been able to play. The list of mid level dungeons that are missing / purchasable is rather large, and having to pay to unlock them once per character is just wrong for a FTP game.
