had a bit of vandalism to the cars recently so decided to pickup a cheap and cheerful wifi camera,

thought i'd go cheap just see what their like and tbh the cheap nasty £20 unit off of amazon is fantastic, i cannot believe the quality you get for the money, good picture great working app and the night vision is superb and clear


the only problem i have, is the night vision, its great internally as i said crystal clear picture even in a pitch black room,

the only problem i have is i want to point it facing out an upstairs window covering the driveway but all i get is a bright reflection (i presume from the IR lighting)

is there any decent cameras that people can recommend that are weather proof for an external fitting,

ive just brought 3 Blurams outdoor pro's, fully waterproof, I live in a top floor flat, I have 1 in the hallway watching the front door, one in the living room, and one screwed into the window ledge outside watching the car, they come with quite a long USB cable built into them, 3 meter's I think, but still if its not long enough, you can always get usb extensions, I have a 4 USB port 2 gang plug socket on the wall too, so dont need to use endless plugs and extension cables, just plug them directly into the USB out on the plug socket, they were dead cheap from screwfix, the cable is very thin, so there's no need to drill holes, they fit under a door, or through a window quite easily, they are brilliant camera's, motion detection, notifications to your phone, can view them on a PC, set active area's, record to SDCard etc etc, they are a bit pricey, I got them for £50 each with a discount code from the rainforest, however, its not so bad if you only need 1 for outside, you can buy the blurams home pro cheaper for internal use, ive just checked and they still have a 20% off discount code on them, so still available for £50.

I did buy a ezviz full 1080 CCTV kit from a competitor which came with 4 cameras, a recording hub with a 1TB hard drive in it, unfortunately, the camera's were wired, easy enough to set up, just time consuming, also fully water proof, the mobile app though to view the camer's whilst your away from home was a nightmare to set up, and kept loosing the camera's altogether, the only way to get them working again on the mobile app was to factory reset the lot when I got home and set it up again, it only cost me £106, but sent it back because of this.

I've been using and recommending Roelink cameras for quite a while but Amazon Blink XT2 cameras are so simple to setup with free cloud storage for recording footage.

Apparently the battery claims are optimistic and they really need to be near a power point.
