Spec me a CCTV System

@Matrix yeah that is correct. Disable the menu below too 'Smart Motion Detection'. Under 'Smart Plan' enable that (box goes orange). Create your rules in the IVS menu.

P.S when you draw your rule for the area you want to trigger the alarm, it's left click to draw and then RIGHT click to confirm it.

P.P.S Make sure you click 'Save' on every page/menu you make a change on. If you don't and you click on another menu, it'll not save your changes!! Caught me out loads..

It’s like being back on a Dahua training course! Definitely click save as often ass possible!

The only thing I would add is not to use tripwires unless you have a really good reason not to use Intrusion. Yes, you need to draw a box rather than just a line but it works so much better. Left click with the mouse puts down a point marker, right click ends the drawing. Leave at least a centimetre round the box for the AI to see something outside the box. Click Cross (might be enter depending on the firmware) and Appear and set a time period for it do its magic. Click people and or vehicles and that’s you done really. In your situation I would suggest one big box for people and two small boxes for vehicles so that you know which car has moved or who is parking in which spot.

That’s the basics. Luckily for you, the NVR sets a lot of the basic parameters but IVS is done only from the camera (unless you buy one of the massive rack-mount server NVRs).

Dahua training course :)

Might be on that for a week or so way it's go :P

The only option i see atm for Human or vehicle is in the Smart motion detection that i have off atm but Fobose suggested having that click off?

I don't see anything in the IVS rule settings to select human on vehicle ?

I set this rule up just a test ( have now set if from 6pm tonight till 7am to try it ) But I'm getting no notification's on my phone etc when it's been triggered ? Nor it seems to show up red on the play back etc on the NVR ?

Thanks again for al the help I'll get there lol

Click on object filter. And select both cross and appears.

Also, your lines are too close to the edge of the picture for cross to work reliably. It needs to see something outside the box, work out it’s a person or vehicle then actually see it cross the line.

Internal or external cameras? When you say wireless are they totally wireless (battery) or mains powered? Do you have external WiFi?

Currently it’s really only Reolink who have solar/battery powered Wi-Fi surveillance cameras at a ‘reasonable’ price. But you realistically still need external wireless lan or they don’t work.

Sorry, my fault for not giving all details. External cameras that are powered by mains electric but connect to the NVR wirelessly.

I'm not really able to do the DIY thing, so what would be a rough estimate for a professional install of a 2 camera entry level poe dahua system?

Bullet high up on side of house covering driveway, and standard turret covering front of house by the door.

Nvr can be hidden in a hallway cupboard, so both poe cables can be routed through a single entry point in the wall.

I think you want 3 or 4 cameras. My thinking is you want one on the left side of the picture on the side of the house which shows you everyone walking or driving down the access road. Then one directly above the meter box, tucked away under the eve. That covers anyone coming to your front door. Then I’d have one on the back corner of the house covering anyone or any vehicle coming up the drive to the garage and potentially your side gate (if you have one). You don’t want them mounted any higher than the bottom of the upper floor Windows. This lets you see faces and registration numbers. In terms of costing it up - TiOC cameras are roughly £125+VAT including mounting boxes, the NVR with HDD roughly £200+VAT and 3 hours of labour @£35+VAT so call it £700+VAT including all materials (terminated external grade cables, terminated into an existing patch panel or I’d supply a surface mount patten box with 4 RJ45 sockets to route all the cables back to in the cupboard under the stairs, NVR mounted on a board on the wall, patch cables for each PoE port and one to your network). If you’re getting someone out anyway I’d generally suggest a fourth camera covering access to the rear (patio doors?).so £1000-£1100 including taxes.

Thanks!

As a starter we are just going for 2 to save on some dosh. This is mainly due a spate of local catalytic convertor thefts, so really the main need currently is coverage on the drive that will alert if someone gets near the car.

I might upgrade to more cameras in the future, so would ask for the run that goes in to the house and cupboard to be set up to allow for 4, even through we'll only be starting with 2.

Now to find a decent South London installer around those prices.

5MP has the better night image quality. 8MP doesn’t have the same illumination range, night images are more grainy and there are more sparklies under marginal illumination conditions. The 5MP is F1.0 whereas the 8MP is F1.6. That’s a awful lot of extra light through the 5MP lens and you can really see it on the images. You know when they launch a product that is ‘just right’? That’s the 5MP bullet TiOC.

8MP has the better pub bragging rights and because very few people spec them they’re actually not a lot more expensive than the 5MP.

If you can find them the 2MP has the best night picture quality of all of them. But obviously no-one wants 1080P in 2021...

Which is the model number for this 5MP Dahua that you're impressed with please? Also where is a good stockist?

Thanks!

Thanks, the 2-cam middle tier package for £1k looks right for me (though I would ask for the cable run to have 4 ports for future cameras), but I am unsure on the Hikvision cameras they use:
Hikvision 6MP IP Cameras with Darkfighter technology (DS-2CD2365G1-I)

I have a sensor-driven porch light, as well as a number of solar spotlights along the drive, and 2 nearby streetlights, so the need for pitch black performance isn't that high, I'd rather have good low-light functionality without IRs (so license plates are legible) if possible. I'm guessing the Dahua TIOCs are better in that regard?

Yeah forgot he was still on Hik. Let me have a look!

I would think the equivalent package would be the two camera ColorVu but that doesn't have the alarm functionality.

It also seems somewhat pricey at £1300 incl. VAT for 2 4MP cameras.

And I'm guess you can't really hire installers purely to install, with me buying all the components myself?

My main problems is I don't have the tools and know-how for drilling and fitting to exterior walls, running the cables, junctions, and getting it all in through some timber-clad bricks with network ports.
