just moved back into my uni digs and shock horror the seats are awful, trying to sit at my pc is an ordeal, so, im hoping someone can spec me up with a pc chair.

what am i after? a chair, anything up to £150, decent chair, sturdy, pref black colour, ideally im looking for other people on here that have great chairs and can recmmond them, thanks in advance.

I'm not sure there is a scale of brands or makes for office chairs, they all basically serve the same purpose in my opinion. The best thing that i could recommend is just to go down to the obvious places and try them out.

You should easily be able to find one for £150.

When looking around for chairs when I was living in the US there seemed to be a plethora of really sweet chairs for fairly cheap $100... but here in the UK there doesn`t seem to be much choice fomr normal stores although I have seen one in Ikea but I think it was around £200. I have seen one that more in you range in a store I don`t think I can mention here sadly... it had a webbed back and had all the bells and whistles and was around £100.

Alright mate,

I would have a look at an office wholesaler....maybe get a really exspensive chair for cheap. We have the Herman Miller Aero/Mirra Chairs at work. I would love one for at home. They would rust you about 500 nikker new. The Aero is the older version.

heres what they look like, hope it isn't against the forum rules....

If you could pick up one of these puppies you would be happy. Maybe do a search on the bay for one. Ikea do some chairs but they are overpriced for what they are really. My mate has a standard office chair for about 150 from Staples. The office supplier. I personally use a Swiss ball. One of those exercise ball things for 20 quid. Though if your a sloucher they aren't the best.

Omnicasa Palma Luxury Chair from the purple shirted place. £69 online or £79 in the shop. When my current one wears out that's what I'll get. Great value for a very comfy leather high backed chir.

I always find myself leaning forward on my chair and its not that bad, so best bet is try them out in the shop. See if it can keep a proper posture on your back.

I got some funky Poang from Ikea a couple years ago, it's doing fine :)

Not an office chair at all, but it's more than comfy. And it wasnt that pricey, £70.

maybe you should try one of these.

They are a lot more comfortable than they look and are a great design to keep a good posture. You'd struggle to lean foward on one of these ;)

I got a cracking leather faced high back chair from Staples last week for only £29.99. It was on special offer reduced from £79.99. It's really comfortable with lumbar support and it also tilts. I have a back problem so if i reckon it's comfortable and supportive then i guarantee you that it is. Huge bargain.

Judging by the number of threads on here over the past year or so about chairs and desks etc i can't help but feel OCUK is missing out on a market here. Maybe it could be good if they get a selection of good chairs and desks in stock.

I had a friend who had one of those and they showed me how they used it said 'here have a go they are really great for posture as it keeps you sitting correctly'... I sat down and slouched and they were like 'How'd you sit like that? How are you keeping your balance?' and I was like 'I dunno. not very good are they?'... then they tried and slouched... they took it back the next day and asked for their money back.

I always sit with my feet either under the chair or I sit on my legs so I think those knee chairs might suit me :O

And at "Sale price: $375.00" !!

only slightly off topic...
I had this mad idea for a chair mod a while back & I'm sure it must have been suggested before. Basically it's a comfy office style swivel chair but it has somewhere you can clamp a pair of satellite speakers to each side of the back support so you can quickly & neatly set up surround sound without having to redesign your room to fit your pc.
Go on, someone build the Universal Modular Surround Sound Satellite Speaker Mount System & entertain us on Dragons Den :D

i was just using this site as an example. You can get the same stuff off a certain auction site for £30. But from what FunkyCowie said i think i might end up buying something else instead :o

A good second hand Aeron chair can be found these days for just a little over your budget. Comfy and stylish and very long gurantee...
Been wanting to get one for years but I'll wait for my current Leather Exec chair to give out first. Friend sold me his for £40 :)
