Spec me a cheap i5 13th gen build

I just need a simple cheap i5 13th gen build for a Linux server for some radio stuff.

PSU
Matx
16GB
256/512gb SSD
I5 13th gen ideally something with 14 cores or to beat a 13500T

I’m well out of my scope today on stuff so any advice be great. Thanks.

If I recall correctly, it may be better to buy an off-the-shelf HP/Lenovo sff pc as it'll probably be cheaper (if you hit the deals at the right time) and also smaller than a full custom setup

Sadly that’s not an option. I’ve got a Dell Micro Optiolex but lack of USB bandwidth is the issue. The get around is to use a PC small enough but with USB PCIE riser cards.

yeah was gonna say, would buying a add-on pcie-usb card not be more money-efficient rather than splashing the cash on a totally new system?

edit: oh i see what you meant, your current system are those super small ones with the external power brick? so no way to even add a pcie card

Yep that’s right external power.

NO USB keyboard or mouse
NO WiFi m.2 card

USB 2.0 cables and ports

1 bus 480mbps limit. So I need a 2nd bus

Simple and cheap don't really go with a 13th gen build, but anyhow:

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £572.89 (includes delivery: £7.99)

I'd swap the 13400 for the 13500 (OCUK don't sell it), it has 4 more E-Cores, an additional media engine and a better IGP.
What would you recommend 12th gen wise

How much CPU power do you actually need? For a cheap Linux server even 12th gen is probably overkill, but I assume you have a reason for wanting 14 cores?
I’ve ran this setup although less number of SDR’s (devices connected to the hubs), 4 in fact with a i5 7th Gen and I did make it hang and struggle.

I was looking at the 13th Micro hoping to use that but the bus issue is the same as my 10th with a 10500T.

Having the horse power be handy and resale value. Plus a nice upgrade.

There will be ideally 12 SDR’s connected and quite a bit running
