I am looking for a cloud backup service. I currently run a network at home with a mix of OSX and Windows7 machines. I have a Windows Home Server based Server which I back up to.

I also want to back up my most important stuff remotely for complete redundancy.

I am looking for something that will allow me to back up from any machine on my local network. (Well, just 2 will do) I want to be able to back up things like my Aperture photo library on my Mac.

I have been looking at http://www.livedrive.com but a lot of complaints about there customer service online.

Any recommendations?

Important but I don't need enterprise level security.

The most important thing for me to keep will be family photos that have been scanned and fixed. I won't be keeping credit card records or the like in this service.

I have been using livedrive since they were in beta and have absolutely no complaints about them and have always found their CS to be fine. I have only ever had to contact them twice in the last 3yrs or so, but each time they answered quickly and dealt with my problem so I can't complain.
I can't recommend them enough, I actually pay for their services, rather than the free account, and feel that I get excellent value for money..

Any idea of the differences between using them directly or using the Knowhow Cloud service which is resold by a high street competitor?

How much are you backing up?

Amazon launched their very low-cost Glacier storage last week, if Jungledisk or another application add support for this it could prove very interesting.

Otherwise I think it's best to have a play with the trials/free accounts they all offer. Gives you a good idea of their software and actual upload speed you'll get to the service, the two most important things really.

have sent you a message.

im a reseller for livedrive. Have been using it personally for the last 2 years (no issues).

knowhow (high street competitor ) is livedrive (underneath). They have paid for the customisation of the screens /icons etc..

Cheers - going to give Livedrive a trial.

At the moment I don't think I have more than about 20GB I need to backup. I am starting a big photo scanning project at the moment so I expect that to grow to a far larger size.

That's Dropbox and Google Drive sort of size IMO. Much better functionality and better clients on more platforms. Minimum 100GB+ (probably 200) before I'd look at other providers myself.
Also an easy DIY size with a webhost or VPS and rsync.

I think Skydrive (Microsoft) offers 7GB (25GB for old users) and can be upgraded but for me I use a combo of Dropbox (get upto about 20GB for free) and Google Drive.

Actually, just started uploading to Livedrive and 140GB in total. I decided to backup my iTunes library - only because I have spent so much time tagging everything.
