I relocate to the US tomorrow and want a nice compact camera to catalogue our experiences . I have a Nikon D2X for more serious photography but its not practical for day to day use.

I want good Quality pictures, wireless would be a bonus , easy to use with great functionality .

I don't want to go mad with the money but will consider anything. What say ye?

That is most of the fixed lens compcts.

I would have a look at some of the Compact System camera with interchangeable lenses. I couldn't inf a compact that I could get along with.

The Nikon 1 series is the smallest, has the best AF and since you have Nikon gear you can share lenses with an adapter (and the Nikon 1 adapter works really well). There just aren't that many Nikon CX (1) lenses around yet.

The M43 cameras (Panasonic + Olympus) have the best lens selection and is the most mature system. AF is not as good as the Nikon 1. The latest sensors are made by Sony and are very good, e.g. mostly better than any modern Canon Crop DSLR sensor so at the moment you don't give up much IQ to go to such a small camera system. I went for an Olympus EPM-2 with kit lens, 50-150mm lens and a Panasonic 14mm f/2.5 pancake.
With all three lenses it is still a jacket pocket camera. With the pancake it is very small and light. This setup is smaller and light than camera like the Canon G15/Nikon P7100 and blows them out of the water IQ wise.

I got the RX100, its amazing. What a camera

Brilliant choice. ;)

The image quality rivals that of some DSLR cameras it's that good. Everything about it just screams quality, from the beautiful Zeiss optics to the supreme build quality, you really couldn't have made a better choice. Enjoy!
