I'm sure there are more cost-effective solutions for a server but I am seriously considering making it a nice looking project too. I also want to use it as a media server and to stream steam games to my TV.

Things I want it to do:
* TS/Vent
* Torrents
* Web/FTP server
* Media server (for streaming to tablets etc)
* Media player
* Steam Streaming
* Maybe even a few steam games locally, but just the basic 2D/3D games, nothing fancy.

Obviously as cheap as possible (but there's no real budget here), want to put LEDs and have a nice colour scheme too so if you'd like to suggest some specific fans or lights that's great, open to a black or silver U1. Also open to water cooling the CPU if it's nice and cheap, just for asthetics, I know it will be overkill. If not watercooled I am very partial to low profile coolers.

Finally if anyone has any links or tips on how I would go about spraying a stencil on the case somewhere that would be appreciated. I'd like to do a bit of customisation.

Not looked at that before but the main reason I like the Cooltek is because it has a window, would have to put my own window in the sharkoon by the looks of it.

I guess you're not planning on running RAID or having much storage?

Just sounds like what you wanna do is going to be storage heavy, so if you stuck a 3/4TB drive in there you'd need the same over USB or something for backup, unless you don't mind losing your data.

Nice case but I would't consider it for a server, no drive capacity.

This would give you 8 bays if you need them, with the window.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Fractal Design Node 804 Micro-ATX Case - Black Window £78.95
Total : £88.55 (includes shipping : £8.00 Ex.VAT).

You are entirely right...

I was going to back up / archive stuff by a USB drive but I should just do that over the network.

I'll have to get the title of the thread changed....

On another note, I was planning on using linuc but should I be looking at windows for the server?
