I need a cordless drill, light domestic use, don't mind spending a few quid if it will last a while.

So what have you tried good and bad.

thanks in advance

Use the search because this exact thread has been asked at least 3 times in the lat year IIRC. There was some very good advice :)

yeah your right thanks for the suggestion

I have a DeWalt yellow hammer action drill but it doesn't go threw double bring from inside the house to outside as it isn't powerful enough.

I am going to be buying a cord one for power as I just hate battery ones now. Not powerful enough for most.

Hitatchi 24V SDS+ for anything more than putting up shelves. Expensive though, I would say that for most DIY a corded drill is better in financial and practical terms.

Makita don't bother with two batteries as the Makita charges in 20mins buy a cheap corded hammer drill, combo battery hammer drills are poor in the hammer dept outside of putting up pictures.

Makita are great products. V Happy with my Bosch 18v for home usage though, was a treat to myself when I moved last year. Extra battery is an absolute must, nothing more annoying than wanting to do a Sat morning job and having to charge the ruddy thing. £70 is about the norm price for it with all the gubbins iirc.

Understandable. I used to fit kitchens and all my colleagues used Makita power tools, but many used them purely because other people did and never considered other brands.
