Spec me a corporate laptop

Hi guys,

We are buying some laptops for selected users (most of my users have desktops). In the past they bought some ultrabooks (toshiba portege z830) which are very nice but discontinued.

Could recommend me some similar laptops? 13", lightweight, etc. I don't mind if they are not ultrabooks if they still are under 2kg and upgradeable (RAM, HDD).

Also, if you can spec me laptops with docking port I would really appreciate it. In my previous companies they had lenovos (t420 I believe) and they weren't great.

Thanks!!

I am big fan of HP laptops for corporate use.

the HP Eiltebook and the Ultrabook Pro G series. They all have docking stations available and are the most reliable laptops I have ever used. They are easy to upgrade and strip apart and the parts are easily available without the need to go back to HP.

Lenovo ThinkPads would be next in line for me.

Thanks Ploppy. I will take a look but I never liked any of the HP hardware I had (last purchase an Omni 10, terrible support)

Gotta agee, HP all the way when it comes to these sort of laptops

Excellent laptops, and crazy fast, even with a standard a=hDD, putting a ssd will just sent it beyond the beyond!

HP business support is pretty good now. I know its in India but they appreciate you are a IT dude and will actually listen to what you have to say rather than going by the numbers.

+1 more for HP the standard issue at my workplace are these: HP EliteBook Folio 9480m.

Not super-light, by OK and can handle anyting thats thrown at them with good support from HP.

I tend to find HP Support are pretty good these days. Both them and Dell are pretty good for business use.

Sony Support however is terrible, just don't get a Sony.

You can't get a Sony any more they sold VAIO.

Any Tier 1 Brand laptop would be good for any business really as they want your money and will bend over and flip backwards for your return custom when you replace.

Lenovo are also good.

I recently got a Lenovo T440 (i think, 4something anyway).

It had a an massive, sensitive Touchpad that you couldn't disable with a hot key or any option i could find whn using a USB mouse. In the end i had to use a registry hack to disable it permanently.

A little thing, but bloody annoying.

Thanks guys. Wesimmo, I had lenovos in my previous 2 jobs (t420s I believe) and they were terribly slow.

That's because you probably had a slow spec.

All manufacturers use the same parts, the only differences are price, build quality, support options and aesthetics.
