spec me a CPU (£400 budget)

as above im looking for a good CPU (AMD ONLY!)

£400 budget with intent to clock

im a gamer and intending to put it with a DFI board and a 1900XT and mushkin memory

If so any high end x2 eg 4400 or opteron eg 170 I guess

For that money I'd go for a dual core CPU like the Opteron 170

With 400 pounds I'd go get a 4400. I haven't seen any reviews of the 170 and I prefer to only look at getting stuff I've seen reviewd in several places.

With that sorta budget you should 100% buy an Opteron 170!

Of course if you wanna spend less there are other options too. . . you could spend under £200 and still get a stonking CPU!

how about a san diego 3700 for £146 oem. You could put the saved £254 to a duel/multicore later. When/if games come out which will use them.

ocuk is really milking the opteron chips because they are good clockers. At stock they are 200mhz slower than the 4400x2.

hey, so they should I dont know if it was intentional (I doubt it was) but OCUK managed to score the best stepping the opteron 170 has even come with! almost all on this forum are getting 2.7-2.8 on stock volts, I'm testing mine at 3ghz on air with a little extra vcore!
