Hey guys, Looking to upgrade my CPU and RAM to increase my chances of getting half decent frame rates in GTA4 and Crysis :p

My current spec is:

Intel [email protected]
Corsair XMS2 2gb RAM
Asus P5Q Mobo
BeQuiet! dark power pro 450w modular PSU
Nvidia 9800gt 1gb

Hoping you guys could point me in the right direction :) Got around £200 to spend. Preferably socket 775 CPU that is compatible with my motherboard and around 4-6Gb of RAM

Thanks guys :D

is that cpu overclocked?
i would say tbh an E8400/8500

and another 4Gig of RAM should be fine:D

although a GTX 285 /275 would also improves framerates aswell :D

but that would need a new PSU aswell

Q9550 with another 2gb ram, GTA4 is capable of using all 4 cores, so should be a nicer upgrade than e8400.

However, you will probably see a greater improvement in performance if you get a new gfx card and psu.

One more question :) Would the OCZ 4gb gold edition RAM that siumatfung suggested run ok with my existing Corsair RAM? Or would i only be able to run the 2 sticks of OCZ? Thanks

There really not much diffeence between 4-6 gb of ram in games tbh and as none has said yet if your running a 32 bit OS it won't see more than 3.5 gb total system ram.

Yeah, Im on Win7 RC 64bit :)

Thanks, But what i wanted to know was if i bought the OCZ ram could i just put it in the 2 available slots with my existing RAM with no problems, or would they cause errors as they are made by different companies?
