Hiya

I'm helping my friend renew his system a little, and one of the things that is needed is a new cooler.

His case is a mid tower Coolermaster, and the budget for the cooler is c. £50. Can go either way depending on what is best for the money.

All help is appreciated, thanks!

You will need to find out what case it is exactly or try and measure how much room there might be inside it.

What board is it for and does it have low profile ram

Board is an asus p7p55d-e and it's the 690 series, oh and yes I think it has low profile ram at the mo. It's some A data ram branded as Carry that he has at the moment, product code CA3U1333C4G9-B

e: On second thoughts it doesn't look low profile to me

The Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo is ok but its not going to be better than most the AIOs and there are slightly cheaper alternatives (Mainly from Raijintek). BTW most coolers are supplied with adequate thermal paste so I wouldn't worry too much unless you want a specific one. Opinions vary on which is best anyway.

Probably the best air cooler within your £50 budget it this:

But you will need to make sure it will fit the case and not obstruct ram/pcie.

Thanks for that. I'll have a measure of his case when I'm there tomorrow.
