Spec me a CPU

Ok so I currently have

e6400 @ 3.1 Ghz
8800gts 320mb
corsair 520w hx
Gigabyte DS3P (supports quads and 1333FSB)
4GB 800mhz ram

and I want to replace the gts with a http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-100-HT

As I understand my cpu probably won't be able to match it.

Please can you recommend me something that this mobo/psu can handle and will get the most out of the 4870 without being overkill.

i cant see your chip being a bottleneck.
the corsair is fine for a 4870 and a beefier chip

I agree with Phatzy. If you are after a new toy I would go with the E5200-it's cheap enough that you won't mind replacing it when Nehalem comes along, and you can have some fun clocking it too!
