Hi there :D

I'm after a CRT for playing games (coutner-strike) I'd like to play at 800x600 with as many hz as possible, i've seen some nice samsume/viewsonic 19" but im wondering if anyone has any better ones in mind... a 21" could be good too, but they seem to be nearly double the price of a 19"

So, could anyone point me in the right direction? :)

Thanks!

He wants the higher hz and a low resolution, do I smell a "pro" player? If so, there is reason for the CRT.

ROFL, even i play @ much higher res on my CRT (1280x1024), thou it does depend on his g.card, if it's old then that mayb all it can throw that game out at.

I've been playing cs at 800x600 for 5/6 years, I dont want to change it :)

no life, no job, cs all day, theres a reason for the CRT.

Have you considered used? These guys have some used screens that used to have awesome reputations in their day-

Anything with a trinitron or diamontron tube should be excellent quality. You offset the chance of them going wrong and lack of warranty against the low price I guess. No idea how good that shop is though, I've never used them.

I am thinking of getting rid of my Lacie 19" Blue IV. Last model made, hardly used, diamondtron. Was ebaying it. I am in the northwest. (can I post this here, or have you a trading section?)

ypu can get them second hand you know from a certain website that will remain nameless

I just got rid of my nice Dell P1110 21" crt & it was nice for cs at a low res, had to get rid of it due to the wife complaining!!! women grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. anyway the new version a Dell P1130 can be bought for as little as £70 delivered and they use a sony trinitron screen. Bright, Flat & just amazing ;)

997mb is a cheap shadowmask screen. We've got one downstairs and TBH I think the picture is really awful, there's a fine cross-hatch pattern over the screen, the black depth is poor for a CRT (you have to turn the brightness down to nearly zero to get an adequate deep black) and the picture takes 20 minutes to settle down and stop wobbling. Samsung did make some top end aperture grille screens though, so make sure you get something good. 957mb is shadowmask too.

TBH it's hard to beat a 21" Dell P1130 at £45 delivered.

i have a HP p1120 which is a old beast, but brilliant, i can run at 1600x1200 w/ 75hz or 2048x1536 w/ 70hz, i would strongly suggest it.

Auction site?

I can play 800x600 @ 110 or 120 hz I believe ( hehe, got a crt and a tft, crt is still awesome just shame about the space it uses up) , and it is a 5 € used dell crt mon.
I wouldn't spend anything over 20 quid on a crt, you can get them for free these days.
Why would you want to spend over 50 quad for a mon with warranty, when you can get mons for a fiver and just buy another one when it dies.

lol sounds like another guy that believes its easier to get headshots and stuff, at low resolutions.

Fact is, its a hell of a lot easier to play games like CS, at high resolutions, so you have a No Swearing! load more pixels to aim at, and less chance of missing.

The only thing that helps with having a CRT, is the instant response time (no ghosting) and the higher hz. Thats it.

of course, but to get that you need to go down to around 800x600 (to get the 150hx refresh rates, etc). If a CRT existed that could do 1600x1200 @ 150hz, no CSS player would play at 800x600.
