Right, it's my birthday on Friday (hoorah!) and I want to go out for the day. However, it's probably going to be persisting with rain, so I need somewhere indoors to go.

In case you don't know me, I'm into motors and history, however, I've been to gaydon and warwick castle more times than I care to mention, so somewhere else would be good. I live in Leicestershire, so please no long drives. Keep it to an hour or two, at the most.

Any suggestions would be gratefully recieved.

or do what i just did and google days out and the area you want :D

Yes, I could do that because that all provides an unbiased opinion of exactly how good the attraction is, relative to the money you pay to get in.

For example Ashby de la Zouch Castle:

"what are we doing today?"
A Royalist stronghold during the Civil War, the castle finally fell to Parliament in 1646, and was then made unusable. An underground passage from the kitchen to the tower, probably created during this war, can still be explored today.

Ohhh, that sounds exciting... until you discover that it consists of about 2 walls in a field.

and how about the great central railway at Loughborough...

"what are we doing today?"
One of the few places in the world where scheduled full size steam trains pass in motion on double track. The Great Central Railway has been voted number 12 in a list of the 50 great railway journeys of the world. Great if you are looking for family days out in leicestershire.

Awesome, I love huge engines... except they don't run on weekdays in March.

So... anybody actually been anywhere good that they would recommend?

Easy go to Coventry and visit the motor museum. Its not far I live in Hinckley & Cov (uni) I haven't been in years, but still looks ok.

You'd think in my 3 years of being at coventry uni I'd of visited there at least once... alas not. If you want food as well go to a pub called "The Gatehouse" they do awesome doorstops and meals (huge for the money and its actually nice). They had thrust 2 there when I last went about... 13 years ago.... was sooo cool.
