Morning Guys,

I am looking for a new dual band ADSL2+ router as my CiscoX3000 is only 2.4ghz, I recently bought a Nvidia Shield and would like to start using 5 ghz for my home streaming.
My ISP has suggested that the X3000 is not that good at handling 3db noise margin which I have applied on my line.

I was looking at the Asus AC68U but am still undecided.

Can anyone also tell me if when BT fibre is live in my area will the same ADSL2+ router still be suitable also?

I have a gigabit network in my house also.

Thanks in advance

Kev

I used a TP Link N600 (TD-W8980) which was fine running at about 16mbps until I swapped to BT fibre.

An ADSL2+ modem router will not normally work on fibre as it needs a different modem. I believe the new BT Homehub 5 is compatible with both but you should check that.

I might be persuaded to put the TP-LINK on the MM if interested.

Andi.

Asus DSL-N55U

I imagine, you could disable DSL modem and use 1 of the LAN ports as WAN, but you better check.

you can also get something like Billion BiPAC 7800DXL, which solves all that.

or, if you don't mind 2 devices, you could get AC68U behind the current device in modem only mode.

Thanks for that guys.
Still undecided on which brand to go for but the fact that I can use the Lan ports as Wan if I do get Fibre any time soon.
Do like the look of the TP link D9 AC1900, it has pretty decent reviews on forums etc.
Cheers Kev
