So iv decided that my version of quad has a very bubbled heat spreader and will be lapping it shortly ( maybe tomorrow ish), but at the same time i want to get a new heat sink for it for some overclocking pleasure (assuming that the crashing goes).

So OCUK, can you please spec me a heat sink that passes the following criterias :-

It cools very well
Will not colide with surrounding heat sinks on the motherboard (msi p45 platinum)
easy to fit- hoping you wont have to put a harness from the other side
already lapped
price under 40.

Thank you !

Xigmatek S-1283

Its one of the newer design heatsinks with exposed heatpipes on the baseplate ensuring a more effecient heat transfer. Compared to my Thermalright Ultra which costs double - I would choose the Xigmatek everytime.

Would great if OcUK got the Xigmatek S-1283 as their design is supposed to as good as or better than the other highend coolers like the tuniq tower, thermalright, scythe etc.
have a look at the top five here: http://www.frostytech.com/top5heatsinks.cfm, i personally wouldnt take it for sure but rather with a pinch of salt.
Also with the Xigmatek S-1283 you can or used to get free bolt through kits for it instead of the push pin if you emailed the Xigmatek but they are on sale now so im not sure if will supply them free.

But from here the tuniq tower is reccommended highly or the thermalright but cost abit more.

+1 using one of these right now, idle 45 load 55 with my e4300 @ 3ghz. Less than £20 too!

OO, deffinately interesting, looking for reviews atm. even though heat sink reviews are hard to compare :/

how about this one?

a friend up in cov is offering me one for 38 second hand.

Waaaay too much. It's an OK cooler, but if he's really a friend he should be offering for a lot less than that used. It has to be less than the superior Xigmatek for instance.

As everyone else is saying, the Xigmatek is the new budget air-cooling king. Under £20 for a new one too. Buy your mate a pint from the £20 saving to make up for his disappointment;)
