Sorry for another spec me thread, I had a look through previous posts on the same questions but most things are discontinued now.

Anyway I went to the gym last night an my current earphones annoyed me. I have a set of Phillips in ear (with hook over ear) but what I found was they were ok when I first put them in but within seconds the sound would be tinny as they'd come out slightly.

In the past I've tried the normal apple earphone but they just fell out all the time, I tried a normal in ear set but still had the same problem.

I wish it was possible to try before buying as I've wasted so much on them in the years but as that's not possible can someone recommend a decent set?

Also if it makes a difference, would be handy if they worked when wearing sunglasses etc.

I've had similar problems, very few in ear earphones actually fit and hold in place when running. I've found Sony ones where the buds are on a slight angle to be best in the past, although I'm using some LG ones that came with my phone to be pretty decent so far.

Have you thought about normal headphones rather than earphones?

Cheers, I had thought about normal headphones but don't really want to go down that path if I can help it. I generally don't like the look of them and in the winter wearing a hat I found them annoying.

Never had a problem with my regular JVC HAFX1X in earphones falling out, normally just loop it under a hoody or a shirt. Everyone's ears are different I suppose in what and how it fits though.

As the name suggests they are quite bassy which is good for the type of filthy hip hop nonsense people listen to in the gym :p Biggest thing for me though is that I've now had them for 3 years, far longer than any earphones and they have nice chunky cables which I've snagged plenty but still going strong. Tried the newer model and the cables snapped in a week as have many others.

With all in ear headphones, have you tried looping them over the top of your ear rather than just letting the cables drop down? Definitely helps to keep them in place while running. The headphones i use (MEElectronics Sport-Fi M6, decent sound quality, nothing special but very durable) have a bit over the cable that allows you to permenantly shape it to fit like that.

I've got some bluetooth earphones that i had similar issues with, as they're heavier the problem is a little worse than normal i found.

You don't need to buy new earphones, just buy a set of foam buds to replace the cheap rubber items that come with the earphones. I used the largest size from an assortment set and they now hold pretty solid. Cost me £5 from Amazon

As above, get some proper in-ear 'phones (i.e. not Apple crap) and get some Comply foam buds to put on them. Comply may be a bit pricey but learn to put them in properly (roll them up like earplugs basically) and you'll love them. Greatly improve the sound too.

I got some plantronics backbeat fit a few weeks ago and I find them perfect. They don't move at all while running. They sit just in the ear but not an airtight fit so the sound is always consistent. They're Bluetooth so will only work with phones or compatible players, but the battery lasts 4hrs and works with Siri.

I find the sound quite good and the ear buds point slightly down so sweat doesn't run into them.

I've had a pair of Sennheiser PMX 685i for a couple of years. They're great, sound quality is decent enough and they've never come close to falling out of my ears - the neckband style really does work.

Cheers all, I had a hunt before I went to the gym last night and found another set of phillips earphones with a hook, a set of Sony Sports with detachable hook and a sony with noise cancelling (which which wasn't suitable)..

This pair of phillips seemed better than the other and the sony seemed ok when I removed the hook (which I didn't know I could do) and I used the loop method mentioned above.

I'll give them another go this weekend but if I'm still not happy I'll but some Senheiser with the band.

Thanks for the tip, ordered some Comply today as they seem like they might work well for me.

I missed your post, this could be a good option, definitely better than ordering another set of earphones.

How do you know what type and size to order?

Mine will be here tomorrow, I'll let you know what they're like. As for what type, there is a compatibility guide on the website, but mine weren't listed so I googled it and took a punt!

Just buy a set of cheap assorted sizes for your first order. When they're ready for replacements buy the more expensive versions if you wish in the correct size.

I ordered my assorted size set of Amazon for about £5.

Personally I use razer hammerhead pro's at the gym these just fit and were my work headphones originally but they fit nicely, they never come out and have three sets of different ear bud inserts for different ear types/sizes. I found it difficult to find a pair of headphones that fit nicely and didn't cause any undue pressure for long periods of time.

They're bigger than normal ones, but squish down. So before you put them in you need to squish them down so they fit in, after that they're fine. I usually have to use the smallest tips I can get so they fit in, these are snug but comfortable. When they're in the don't really move or rotate, I'm used to (having to) adjust the fit all the time, so it was a change to not have to touch them at all. Been for 3 hour long runs with them now, and haven't had to mess with them once.

If you usually have a M or L sized tip you may be able to get away with a smaller size so make sure you get a pack including all sizes. If you usually take the smallest size like me only bother ordering small ones IMO.

If the S500 will fit your headphones I'm quite happy to send you a pair.

Oops forgot about this thread. Glad you guys like the Comply tips! They're a godsend on the tube when some **** with crap Apple headphones gets on with noise leaking out the back.

I picked some Soundpeats Qy7 Mini Lightweight Bluetooth Headphones that arrived just yesterday - only used them once in the gym last night so far but I have to say I'm well impressed for sub-£15!!!

Comfy, stable and a surprisingly decent volume level! (my concern was I had to have any wired headphones turned right up because of the ambient volume in my gym but with these I only needed it 3 or 4 notches from max and they were fine!)
