I'm currently using a cheap wireless HP mouse / keyboard combo and play mainly FPS.

First of all, is a proper gaming mouse worth it?

Secondly, can you recommend me a decent value one. I prefer wireless, but I know that wired are much cheaper. Mouse will be for my new Ivy build.

Cheers.

+1

I'm using one of these myself (moving from a wireless MX1100 and a wired G5) and I find it to be an excellent mouse. Not only is it very accurate and responsive, but the flywheel type scroll wheel is really nice to use in applications and the web.

If one of your main PC uses will be gaming then I personally wouldn't go with a wireless mouse (unless you are planning to spend a lot on something like a G700 or Razer Mamba) as a wired mouse is more responsive.

I've been trying to reduce the wiring in the house so I feel a bit allergic to buying something wired again! I will have to think it over, I agree that the wired mouse is much easier to justify the purchase of.

My wife would certainly be shocked if I spent £70 on a mouse - especially when we already have one.

Hi

I really like the Razer Imperator, a much more standard layout compared with some of the other Razer products.

Personally i just hate the design of the G500. Think it just looks like a cheap dell mouse you get in an office. The G9x feels far better. Personal preference i guess.

Has anyone had much experience with the Corsair Vengeance M60?

Seems to be well reviewed on the main site here. A little more expensive than the G500 again.

Corsair M60 / G500 / G700 are all excellent choices.

avoid the Corsair M90 though, the software can be awful.

Personally i play a lot of MMORPG's so im going for a razer naga for huge amounts of buttons.

If you prefer something cheaper and more for your every day FPS game etc then G500/700 is a very good choice.

go into a shop and actually hold the mouse you are looking at, this can make a big impact on your choice rather than just looking at specs.

i did this the other day then ordered it online ;)

@OrionTC A good suggestion. I will pop into my nearest decent PC store at some point and I will do just that.

I'm leaning towards the M60 at the moment - it is new out, seems to be superbly built and has a few nice features for me - as I largely play FPS.
