Spec me a dehumidifier please?

Mine still seems to be going strong, I've just got it set to come on for an hour a day overnight, and the amount of water it collects is unreal.

Whilst not technically a dehumidifier, I finally got my Nuaire Drimaster PIV unit installed in the loft, as I was looking for some low-power options to help with winter condensation.

The offending room (master bedroom with en-suite) historically tracked a minimum of 55% and up to 70% humidity (if the wife showers with the en-suite door open).

A week with the PIV running at the second lowest setting and the room now gets down to 45%, with zero build-up on the windows from our breath overnight, and topping out at 57% even with an open-door shower, and the air in general is wonderfully fresh and clean.

My Arete seems to be going faulty.
The power button doesn't do anything but beep now, annoying as the manual says not to unplug the machine or it will invalidate the warranty.

Mine has started doing exactly the same thing. It’s only about 6 months old - I can’t turn it off!

Did you contact support?

Have been thinking about getting a 2nd dehumidifier as im getting sick of carrying my 20l Meaco Arete up and down the stairs if im drying clothes downstairs or want to leave it running on the landing to bring my house humidity levels down.

I noticed that Meaco have released an updated Arete (Arete Two) and planned on getting a smaller 12l one just for clothes drying but, as seems to be usual with these units, everywhere is out of stock. Then, noticed Costco have an exclusive 18l model at £240 (the 12l rrp is 200, the 20l £300) so popped down to my local Costco and picked one up.

Bar the new controls and new air flap the unit looks identical. The flap, app control, and improved internals make it a nice update from the original. Will be interesting to see how it compares in laundry mode, as the original was very good to start off with. For the app control alone I'm tempted to sell my original 20l one and replace that with a 12l model when they are readily available

I purchased a 20l Tower dehumidifier last night for £130. It can't come soon enough. With all the humidity my indoor washing feels like it'll take a week to dry!

As with @robj20 ours is set to 55% and left on 24/7. It doesn’t actually run 24/7, it just kicks in when humidity increases (Meaco abc). I’ve also got a Meaco Zambezi which I use for drying clothes. that DOES use a lot more energy as it’s desiccant rather than the abc which is compressor.

I HATE humidity, so keeping it fairly constant it’s a lot more comfortable and easier to heat.

In our old Victorian terrace I got a bit too obsessed, much like Charlie DIYte. Thankfully here it’s set and forget and just empty now and again.

I'm toying with a second arete. Our 12L is good but need a 20L for the volumous upstairs. Really don't know what a good price looks like at the moment! £250ish seems standard but that's a big step up from the 12L
