Spec me a derv

Well it does need to be in good condition but I dont want something thats done silly mileage and is in need of belt changes and other things that are on there way round.

Buy on condition, not age, nor mileage.

Having no relative age limit but a mileage limit of 110k is silly.

This man speaks much sense, listen to him.

I've got a 'stylish' new hatchback for the day ...but I can't tell you how much I wan't my 'frumpy' old saloon back :)

Think of 100k miles as resetting to zero then. By that time most things that should be replaced will have been (assuming it's been looked after!). Everything else will be bad luck or consumables.

Well, that's how I see it anyway :D

I was thinking about a Focus but I dont know anything about them and even thinking about Rove 25 and a 147.

I dont have faith in the 206 cause my mates blew up and he doesnt even know why.

I dont assume that its smaller just a Toledo is a big car compared to other hatches Ive been in, like a Golf, Focus, Rove 25, Clio, Tipo Turbo and 145

I can understand personal taste i.e. a hatchback being more aesthetically pleasing than a saloon but seriously, don't write a car off because your m8 drove one into the ground or it had some unknown history and it blew up!
A 2.0 HDi 206 will do 40 around town. A 1.4HDi will do 50 around town. The 2.0 will remap to 115/120BHP effortlessly at around 9 seconds to 60.

What I guess you mean though is 'a 206 is too girly looking for me' ? :p

Just be honest when you make these threads because ambiguity breeds scrutiny.

Xsara HDi would fit the bill - it's a similar case to the Toledo/Leon thing, less money for the same thing

I'd rather have an older 306 over a 206, I think 206 was Peugeot's idea of a joke! :D

The 106 and 306 had the market covered but there was 'some' demand for a replacement of the 205, the 206 was designed in a lunch break by one of the cleaners at Peugeot and went on to be Europe's best selling car. Much to the bemusement of anyone who is vaguely interested in cars.

Anyway, as the Toledo is a complete yacht compared to the Leon, the purchase of a 306 would be wise. Make sure you remap and screw mod it silly so it can 'REALLI SH1FT LOL'.

Audi A3 TDI or Golf TDI, will probably be into the 100k mark on your budget, but that's fine, it'll be better than most french boxes with half the miles. As said in previous posts, one with a decent history would be even better. I'd rather spend 3k on a german derv with 150k on the clock than say a vauxhall with 50k any day of the week.
