Why did the 206 sell so well? It must have just been price and effective marketing, surely?
...because it's quite good all round? Or is it fashionable to hate 206s this week?

Pray tell, why?

[TW]Fox;16075257 said:What? The 206 is bloody awful, probbaly one of the worst cars in the past 10 years. It's only saving grace - and thankfully for Peugeot it was one heck of a saving grace - is that as far as hatchbacks go it was very good looking.
Says who? Evo?
You pretty much need to have a spinal disfigurement to obtain a decent driving position because of the pedals. They are also unreliable and built with cheese. It's the worst car in it's market segment bar Korean rubbish.

Do you own one?
Why dont you counter the argument with reasons why the 206 is a good car
VW Boras are unloved and as such are much better value.Audi A3 TDI or Golf TDI, will probably be into the 100k mark on your budget, but that's fine, it'll be better than most french boxes with half the miles. As said in previous posts, one with a decent history would be even better. I'd rather spend 3k on a german derv with 150k on the clock than say a vauxhall with 50k any day of the week.
I don't own one but I like to listen to a reasoned argument as to why it might be poor. You haven't really provided one.
In fact, I suspect your opinion is one you've proxied via fox and luckily for you, he's chimed in![]()

Golfs at this price will have massive miles and will be older too.
Not necessarily a bad thing, but it makes it harder to find a good one.

What poor reliability?
questionable quality????
So far Ive been thinking of getting another 306dturbo anyone got any other ideas?
I dont really need the boot space and I know how big it is. Plus its a bit to big for me thats why I want a hatchback.
Well its come that point where I need a car thats does good mpg, has a nice amount of power, cheap to run, good looking, and the biggest thing that needs to fit in the boot is food shopping bags. A Toledo is too big for me and Id probably forget its got a boot on the back and hit someone. Any saloon at the moment is too big for me.
