Hi there, I would like somebody to recommend me a desk please. It has to big enough to handle 2x pc's ie not actual slots for the towers, they can sit on the floor but enough room for two monitors and mouse mats etc. It would be nice to have some storage for games and various pc related gubbins.

It can be a corner unit or a straight desk not too bothered what it looks like but must be a decent price. Also delivery to Orkney is a must lol! Can anybody recommend anything that might take my fancy?

Cheers :)

Build it yourself? There are pleanty of easy guides on the net, and it's what im going to do early next year for my new build!

I always build my own desks - usually a wall mounted worktop type affair with a couple of over/under shelves - that makes sure it's good and sturdy.

The only reason I bought the Ikea Mikael desk I have now is because it was being sold along with a high-back leather chair for a bargain and he lived down the road from me :)

If (somehow) this desk ever breaks, I'll build the next one myself...

I wish i could build my own desks, but im not gonna trust myself to do it. How about getting one from ikea and pick the worktop and legs? Or perhaps a modular version from Agros?

If you can run to it, grab two Jonas desks from Ikea and pop them side by side :) nice clean look and with a bit of no more nails they'll be effectively one desk lol

Yeah build it yourself. You can have whatever you want then. I built mine with 1" thick MDF top and 3x2 PAR timber. Cost me £55. All wood was trade though.

The build log, such as it is, can be seen here http://picasaweb.google.com/HatManSan/MyPCDeskConstruction?authkey=Gv1sRgCOnVk8Gj3ceADA&feat=directlink

i was lucky to get the wood for nothing.

the paint was lying around in the shed and the total cost was roughly £10.

it's very solid and brightens up the corner my desk is in.

Oh lol didn't read the name of the poster in that thread - they did a good job though! :)

Makes me wish I had a funky alcove to build one of those in!! :)
