Never thought I'd ever make a 'spec me' thread but here goes. With the nice sunny weather we've been having and father's day round the corner, I'd thought it would be nice to buy the old man a full wash kit for the car from washing to waxing and all the tools needed in between. Currently we have a bucket, a hosepipe, a sponge, a half torn chamois and some all in one shampoo and wax stuff from halfords.

Budget is <£100 and all our cars are black if that matters.

Do your worst! :D

I am currently looking at this http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/complete-detailing-kits/wash-39-n-39-wax-your-car-kit/prod_188.html but its out of stock. Is this a good kit?

That kit is going to be exactly what you want for your budget, everything you need in there, all you would need is another bucket and then you're sorted.

Wow that Werkstats Wax kit costs quite abit more than other waxes out there. Is it really worth the premium over the other brands?

Theres the R222 Complete Car Care kit available from the Polishing company. Leaves plenty left over for some cleaning mitts and others bits and bobs.

its expensive cos its really good :D

but it includes all you need really other than wash/clay/dry products

you'd be surprised how much you can spend on applicator pads and towels but they come with the werkstatt kit

Also I understand that polish is used after the paint work is clean and before the wax coat. Do you have to polish the entire car before waxing or just the problem areas?

yes you're best to polish the whole car as it is cleaning minor imperfections and laying a nice base for the wax

best basic practice is wash/clay/polish/wax
