Hi all,

So it's my Dad's 50th Birthday on the 1st May and I am looking at getting him a digital camera. Now I'm not very clued up with regards to stuff like this but I'm not a noob by any means.

Would ideally like it to come with an expansion card if possible (or at least the option to have one) and MUSt be USB (though this is standard with all cameras I presume?)

I'm looking to spend around £150-£160 (is this reasonable?) I basically just want one that he can use all the time i.e. special occasions, holidays etc. :D

Thanks in advance for any help/guidance/specs/models etc!

I haven't used it personally but I'm guessing everybody will point you towards a Fuji FinePix F31fd Digital Camera (6.3MP, 3X optical zoom) 2.5" LCD. This seems to be what everybody recommends to people on this budget.

You could however spend the money on a "bridge" camera which is bigger but allows for a longer zoom etc. The Fuji FinePix S5600 which I have can be had for around £115 now and has a 10x zoom.

So it depends if you want a small compact, or a bigger camera capable of more zoom really.

Well to be honest with you, what would you recommend? I think the general consensus for my dad would be he would like it smaller and compact. I could stretch to around £200 if that would make it better and get me a better camera?

Ok methinks I'm gonna go and purchase a F40fd is this the better option? Its a little more expensive @ ~£200 but is it worth the extra?
