I need a new camera to take better-than-mobile-phone-but-dont-need-dslr pictures.

My trusty Coolpix s8200 unfortunately has kicked the bucket and it ticked all the boxes. Great picture quality, about the right size, some options, but most shot on auto.

I can probably go upto £250ish on cost.

Anyone know what is the best option?

Coolpix s8200 is good. Trustworthy. Ticks all the right boxes. Its about the right size, some options but its best to use on auto.

(pfft now this is in the right section)

Depends on your needs. If you're ok with an average zoom, but want the best image quality, then you should be able to get a Sony RX100 for about £250 now (certainly second hand you can for sure). In terms of compacts, it can't really be beaten for image quality.

If you need more zoom, maybe something like Panasonic's TZ60 or whatever the latest one is.

I had this when i went on a holiday to Italy didn't fancy carrying ah huge DSLR and asked around and tried some options and i fell in love with the Olympus Stylus XZ-2.

Camera takes some amazing photos just on auto alone, but has the ability to go deeper into the settings and mess with them all.

Also can capture in RAW if that is your thing :)

Also to note it is fairly compact, i can carry it in a pocket even some of my loser Jean pockets it fits fine.

Think the camera is around £280 though so slightly over your budget.

Thanks,

Ordered :)

Mines took 3 days to get to me, including going to wrong address in Scotland and being redelivered to Cornwall...

Incredible considering it came from the US. Still waiting on stuff from Amazon I ordred at the same time.
