Spec me a dishwasher

I guess to start you off...

- Budget?
- Slimline/Full?
- Integrated/Freestanding?

That should thin out the results nicely.

You may want a manufacturer that's got a longer warranty?

After that, depends on your usage. Some dishwashers can have a variety of different wash programmes, but if you're used to just sticking it on the same programme each time, then there's little point going with one that offers 15 wash programmes.

I would also consider what sort of things you load, as some have different basket layouts that can accomodate larger pans/dishes etc.

Thanks for the reply man.

Would say 200-300
Full
Freestanding

Not really worried about all the different features as its just the wife and I.

Would probably run once a day

Kenwood KID60S18 is the recommended model on Which (£270.00)

That's integrated or built in, The OP wants freestanding. Tip: Don't buy your domestic appliance on the internet without checking the model in person first. Look for a dishwasher with an all stainless steel interior as they are more energy efficient & less prone to leaks.

Assume the more expensive do wash better and have better features.
I Paid £900 for my bosch series 8 dishwasher about 6 months ago and i wouldn't really say it that much better at cleaning then the cheap £250 Zanussi we had before
The high extra cost is mainly just for flashy things like the colour LCD display, LED lights inside, More Adjustment on the dish trays, connect to smart phone, extra programs you most likely never use :D etc over the cheaper models..

Get one with a cutlery tray at the top, so much easier!

I've got a Bosch one, great machine but yer again it doesn't "clean" any better so just go off features and noise.

/\/\/\ Bosch series 4 dishwashers & above should have them (I did a bit of research before posting as I'm a bit out of touch with domestic appliance specs & features these days, as a former salesman I like to 'keep my hand in' for my own reasons as I don't want to get ripped off if I buy for myself in the future). As @chaparral said dont spend too much on a DW unless you plan on buying a Miele.

Not always about price.
If space allows, full size.
Mid range, beat bang for buck. Not worth paying much more for little, if any extra.

Have a hotpoint full size, free standing

Its the best thing in the kitchen!

Definitely go full size! I was trying to decide if I needed that .I do!

Looks lush too

Get one that actually dries stuff, seen a few new ones that leave everything dripping wet while our old one dries everything properly

What you are probably witnessing is residual heat drying Vs fan-assisted heated drying. The former is much more energy efficient (cheaper) and should give adequate result if you load the washer correctly, + use a rinse aid and salt... If you have areas where water can collect (bottom of cups etc), residual water will be present though. The later drying method uses much more energy but is far better at removing any pools of water that collect on items.
