Fairly competent with linux. I like the look of Mint and am familiar with Ubuntu, I'm looking for a distro to put on my laptop and run it along side W7. 64 bit naturally.
Also at present it's just got Windows on it. Are the installers these days up to resizing windows partitions without damaging any data? Obviously I'll back up any thing important, but I'd like to "shunt" windows down the disk and put linux/swap at the start?
Oh and I've had problems in the past getting XMMS to run FLAC, are there any better ones around now (haven't booted into linux in a fair while)?
