YES! POWER TOOLS!

So my B&Q Bosch drill driver has conked out. Bah.

Time to get one that'll last more than 2 years.

Makita? Dewalt?

Li-Ion batteries? 18V or 14V? Recharge rate?

Some good offers on at Screwfix occasionally....

I'd recommend this Dewalt over the others due to the faster driving and drilling speeds. The Makita is 400rpm-1300rpm whereas the Dewalt is 600rpm-2000rpm. I guess it depends if the lower speeds will still suit your needs but it would be far too slow for me.

I have a Makita BHP453SH, don't have a problem with the lower speeds myself, but as you said, it's a personal thing.

Also available with two batteries

That's a good price with 2 batteries! Have used Hitachi tools in the past and they have always been very good. Slightly faster drilling speed than the makita at 1500rpm as well.

It is the latest model and it's the same price as the old one which is still available. I have a corded Hitachi SDS drill, Jigsaw, and circular saw, all have served me well so far. cannot fault their power tools at all.

Use to have several Hitachi tools years ago, always found them excellent, just got off Freecycle,a Hitachi 9" grinder, superb beast, just used to cut a reinforced concrete roof I'm removing, it's a very impressive grinder.

Thanks for the comments, sorry I didnt see the other threads. Ended up with a Makita Li-Ion 18V combi drill. It's the knackers!
