Spec me a Driveway Alarm

Hi,

After having some scrote try to break into two of my cars yesterday evening (the police got him) I was thinking about getting a driveway alarm to alert me a night if someone tries again.

My driveway is not huge, around 10m by 10m. Looking for something weather proof that I can hook up to a wall and will send me an alert, ideally to my phone, but a portable base station would be OK too.

As always not looking to spend a fortune.

Thanks.

You may be better off in the cctv thread
But perhaps something like reolink argus eco?
Solar powered or can use rechargeable battery
Notifies your phone/pc
Can set off its built in siren too, useful at night when no one should be on your property
Around 60 quid mark

Look at shed alarms. I have one I use for motion detection in the house. Plug in base station (loud if you want), 3xAAA batteries in the detector and they seem to last forever. Spent £18.

This is the one I have, one sensor version. There's a cheaper one on there for a tenner, but no power supply supplied, but the receiver does take batteries. Be warned though, passing cats and assorted mammals will also set them off, so you might get less sleep than you want. I used ours to see what was visiting the garden at night. The answer was cat... cat....... cat, cat, cat..................... cat. :)

If your drive way has your house's WiFi coverage just stick up a Blink XT2 cam on a wall/anything, simple and just works.
You can even disable the blue light on the cam so in the dark it's very discreet.
Get a buzz to your phone if anyone so much as looks at your car funny.

Free cloud recording with sound.

Can be had for 79.99 and no wires no fuss.

Hi, thanks for the ideas. I do in fact already have CCTV, it is a wired system with a hikvision DVR. I was thinking about working out how to use the motion sensor function with email alerts, but discounted that idea as there will probably be too many false alarms. We get a lot of cats and badgers!

So I was thinking of some form of motion detector that I could mount on the wall by the gate at around 1.2m. The idea being that it may then ignore small animals and just warn when scrotes are on the loose.

So perhaps a shed alarm would work?

Thanks

If you haven’t already got an alarm in your house have a look at pyronix enforcers. They do a wireless external detector and because they are owned by hikvision they have an app that combines both the intruder system and the cameras. I’ve not had much time to play with both systems together but may be an idea worth looking into?

Thanks, my house does have an alarm and old wired system with door magnets. Not sophisticated enough to connect to my phone however.

Just managed to work out how to set the DVR to email me when there is motion and set it to only occur overnight and for certain bits of the screen. Not as complicated as I had feared. Still think I will get a shed alarm or similar.

Something like the reolink I mentioned
Is WiFi enabled
So not only can you push notifications to phone /pc, I have mine email clips, different model but still reolink And
can live view it too which is very useful
And has detection zone selection so can tell it to ignore for example anything under 3 feet from ground level to miss cats and badgers
Should work unless you have some very short scrotes around there lol
