Bought my son this Alesis DM6 electric drums looking for a cheap amp, at this stage I don't know if he will take it up seriously or not, he has had lessons for 6 months and seems keen, just want one to last a couple of years till he out grows the drum set then I can think about spending on a more long term solution

anything upto £50-£60

Thanks

Yup prob found this on there for 39.95

You'll be lucky to get anything worth buying for that sort of money. :p Double your budget at the very least. I teach drums and at one of my schools we use an alesis electric kit with this Roland wedge.

The wedge is way more than your budget of course, but it can handle all the tonal range needed from drums, particularly the kick drum. Anything too cheap will sound tinny and probably not last long either. I'd say just go with decent closed headphones for a while, or maybe stretch to something like this

Thanks for the advice Merlin5, like I said this is really just to get by, if he out grows this Kit and still keen then I would look at something more long term and robust. If he gets 2 years out of the drums and starts saying he needs better etc then I will be happy so in a way same with the amp - may consider the second amp Laney AH-Freestyle Multi-Instrument Amplifier
