My Pioneer DV-350 player is around 4 years old and is starting to hiccup on almost every disc – that and the fact that it can’t play DIVX means it’s time for a new player. The DV-350 is really pretty awful at playing CD audio (I use an analogue stereo amp not any fancy DD stuff).

Can anyone recommend a player with reasonable analogue CD audio output and decent DIVX playback. I’d like to be able to play DIVX files from DVD-R (or +R) which would give something like 9 hours of decent quality video on a 4.6GB disc.

My limited research to date turned up this player:
Denon DVD-1720

Any comments or other suggestions?

Toshiba SD360 is budget compared to the Denon

but has got rave reviews.

its HDMI upscaling, and does DivX

not sure about CD audio output though. you'll have to check.
