Hi I run a Dell 2209 WA which has a resolution of 1680x1050. I would really like to have a shiny new card which runs DX11. I would like to be able to max out all the settings in current games like Crysis 2 etc and for a bit into the future too. Not bothered wether it's Nvidia or Ati but quite like a shot of Deus Ex so if it comes free as well then result :)

I would rather have a beefy single card rather than running sli or crossfire. My budget is not fixed at all but would prefer a good balance of cost to performance. Cheers in advance!

Radeon 6950 2Gb would probably fit the bill. As low as £194 with Deus Ex and DiRT 3 or about £20+ extra for one with better cooling.

I know you didn't want crossfire, but you could get another 6950 down the line when the new 7 series come out. The 6950 should drop in price significantly and with 2 of them, the performance should (predicting here) match that of the high-end 7 series. Crossfire 6950's perform a lot better than the Geforce 580 for example, so 2x6950 should be equal to or a bit less than the top end 7 series GPU (well minus the 2 GPUs in one card if there will be one).

Hmmm, I will check them out! Yeh I don't want to go crossfire/sli as my mobo at the moment has no room for my sound card then. Could always upgrade it I suppose but was waiting for ivybridge.

Two free games as well! I just can't make up my min lol. I have read the guide to unlock it from a 6950 to a 6970 and it don't seem too hard at all. Could be pulling the trigger on that card me thinks :)

which guide would that be? the stickied one at the top of the forum? if so not needed as the card comes with a modified bios just need to flick the switch to go between the 2 bioses(1 standard with locked shaders, 1 modified with unlocked shader).

tho remeber its not guranteed tho the 1 I've tested has worked, still need to test the other.

have a read of http://www.hardocp.com/article/2011/08/29/sapphire_toxic_hd6950_video_card_review
