The time has come! Getting a few Blue screens lately so thought may aswell spend some money on my pc rather that plumetting it down the drain. Some might say it is though. :p

I currently have 550£

I would like a CPU, RAM, MOBO, GFX and a Samsung Evo SSD

I game at 1440p with my current 448 edition 560 it struggles

Someone better than me spec me stuff. I did it and bought msi everything because it looks good. And my budget kinda went silly.

I can spend more if I have to but really don't want too...

I'll post first as this challenge got me going!

It's £100 over but you get a 280x which I believe is a good buy for that resolution and an i5 using stock cooler as you didn't mention overclocking.

I would like to Overclock. I have a Titan EVO Cooler but I've lost the mounts. So yeah. New one please.

I also save 8 quid on shipping.

Would the extra be worth it for the 280x?

Free cooler with motherboard and similar to Idleman's spec.

I went for the 280x as I went with an AMD build. I think it's advised if you can stretch comfortably to a 280x you should, but I'll let more people chime in now!

Just a thought, you say your old 560ti is struggling, what CPU, mobo do you currently have?

Could be that you just get a SSD and a better graphics card.

If you're gaming at 1440p I'd certainly try to get a 280X in there. Maybe you could hold off on the SSD for now?

Alternatively, an AMD build would get you closer to the £550 budget.

I have a Vertex 2 60GB. I can use that, but considering the new board comes with SATA 6Gbps I would wan't to utilize that fully.

But could purchase that after.

Considering I should have pointed out I also run 120hz. Ill price up without the SSD for now and see what I get at.

It would appear to have jumped up in price as it now shows £263.99.
Now I was certain I was seeing it cheaper this week (the price you quoted) and was starting to think I was going mad. Looks like they have sneaked the price up due to very little stock floating around anywhere at the moment.

Holy crud so they did, obviously that was a mistake price?

I do think Op might want to push the GFX card choice as high as possible with the res and running at 120hz

AMD build to look at.

This is with a 290 and a cheaper aftermarket cooler so you can still OC.

The board I think will also allow you to crossfire/SLI in the future which some of the cheaper ones won't.

Not sure Ill get much of an improvement though with AMD.

You should get improvement over the 955 with the 8320 and a 290 and it will be better in some games but not others.

I'm also upgrading from a 955 to a 8320 with a 280x I will let you know whe nthe gfx card comes in and I get it set up what sort of performance I get from this.

Here is a nice review, you can compare the i5-2500k vs the FX-8350 and see how much of a difference you get, and given that your gaming at 1440p any difference well be destroyed with the difference between a 290 vs 280x at the res.

Not sure which games you play.

Thats very intresting, I suppose it was naive of me to assume that Intel is just the best for everything... Including gaming.

Intel is the best, it destroys AMD in terms of CPU, in gaming the gap is less. But you need to balance your build a bit more since you well have excessive GPU needs.
