Playing BF2 and getting annoyed because i can never get the jet has made me want to go out and get a combat flight sim. I want something that isn't ultra realistic (mixing fuel\oil levels and whatno), but isn't completly arcadey. Pretty much any era will do, and I would like something that will show off my 8800 as well.

Bonus points if it is an online multiplayer game with loads of pilots up at once...

Lock On: Modern Air Combat

It's a jet simulator so there is no mixing fuel etc. Flyable A-10, F-15 and several Russian aircraft.

WWIIOL - you can slate the rest of the game (playing infantry is circa counter strike 1.0 on a 14.4k modem) but the air combat is the most intense ive played since aw3. Bombers, fighters, transports etc. Does have a monthly subscription though.

I bought lomac aswell as a x52 a few weeks ago, never played a flight sim before and was overwhelmed by all the control settings and stuff lol :s

Ended up getting FSX , which im still learning but find it much more user friendly, once ive mastered fsx ill try lomak i think

The trick with LOMAC is to stick with one plane type, I went with the A10 as i like to see what i kill more than being able to shoot down planes beyond visual range.

If you want a modern combat jet sim, Falcon 4: Allied Force is the only real option.

Ouch! That game spanked my circa 1998 PC, and gave 2006 version a proper run for its money too, especially the hard drive.

If you can get in to it though, it's the daddy.
