My girlfriend is in need of a new (well secondhand) car as her current 2007 1.7 diesel Corsa is dieing due to the usage it gets. She works shifts and commutes from the edge of Leeds into the centre, ~12 miles each way which can take between 20 and 60 minutes depending on the time of day. It also does other short journeys and very rarely goes much further.
As such I've recommended whatever she buys next is a petrol which she agrees is sensible. She likes the look of the Hyundai I30 but sadly these (and the Kia Ceed) only seem to be bought by utter cheapskates who only buy the base model 1.4 petrol or a diesel. Well spec'ed 1.6 petrols seem far too rare.
Requirements are, mid sized 5 door hatch, petrol, no slower than her Corsa, reasonable spec (Climate, auto lights & wipers), ok to drive (compared to a Corsa), not Ford or Vauxhall, upto £10k budget.
Does this even exist or has the market been ruined by peoples misguided love of diesels?
