Spec me a FPS ?

After loads of time on BF4 (and 3) I need something new.

I love FPS gaming from Doom to BF4, taking in L4D and others on the way. Dying Light looks good, can anyone recommend me something for Christmas ?

Not your traditional fps but I would highly recommend Alien Isolation.

More of a tactical hide and seek game rather than a run and gun.

Yes - my brother (PS4 fan) has been raving about it for days. I might try one of those in the MM.

For tactical shooters you can't go wrong with Insurgency (http://store.steampowered.com/app/222880/)

Well, actually, that's a lie, high barrier to entry because it's effectively one shot kill, but pace yourself through the training and maybe try some bots to get used to different loadouts and you'll be good to go.

I found it just simple old school fun. The story is interesting enough and the action is good. It's not an award winner, but it's definitely entertaining.

Me too. Spot on with that. Like shooters used to be is how I described it to mate recently. Rather silly, over-the-top, fast-paced Nazi-shooting fun. It does jar slightly with the incongruous serious story elements shoehorned in between gratuitous dual-wielding banzai action, but overall I'm finding it pretty enjoyable. If you like older shooters I think you'll get a kick out of it.

Hard Reset, Shadow Warrior, Alien Rage.

An old title that springs to mind is Unreal (the first single player game in the series). Must try it out again myself. I wonder what mods there are for it...

I really enjoyed Wolfenstien, it was good fun. Its hard recommending games as it is so subjective.

+1 for wolfenstein. It's a brilliant "switch off" fps with a nice drop of nostalgia thrown in too.

Insurgency is also cracking but you need to be on a team of likeminded guys. The search and destroy style modes are particularly good.
