Good morning all,

I've recenty been asked by my work place to design some CD covers and CD labels (to be burned on lightscribe media) but i can't find any decent free design software.

At home i use Nero cover design but since the school doesn't have a license i can't use that unfortunately.

I did consider using CoverXP but that is too basic and doesn't offer any real design tools.

If someone can recommend me a piece of freeware (or cheap to buy) cover and label software i'd be very grateful :D

I think there's some basic stuff on the lightscribe site, i've used that and it was fine, though to design the image I used photoshop CS (bit old now). GIMP is like photoshop but free, albeit with some missing features of course.

I never considered looking on the lightscribe site for basic label burning so thanks for that :D

I was thinking i might just use Photoshop to design the main label so that might be my best option.

Thanks for your help

No probs. Make sure you get the contrast enhancing program too, i've found they come out pretty bland otherwise. I've also run the same label twice on the same disc to get more contrast too, though it's probably not recommended. The lightscribe site also has loads of good templates.
