Its looking like my fridge freezer is on its last legs, seems to be running more or less constantly and not super cold as you would expect if if it was just a failed stat, its barely cold enough

Its never been a good fridge, never seems to get cold enough, initially the compressor was swapped in warrenty because they couldn't find anything wrong to cause rubbish temps, didn't seem to make things much better and more or less just put up with it. I just get the impression that it is a very poorly designed fridge (and posisbly very similar issues to this one
) and now it seems more broken than it was by default.

So please, spec me a new fridge freezer, somewhere around 70/30 split. Existing one is 198L fridge (which is probably about right, but a little bigger would be advantagous) and 71L Freezer (which is too small), so probably looking around 240L/100L ?

Don't want to make the same mistake again, so want to try and avoid the more budget brands I guess, and definatly not a Fridgemaster again, You'd think with a name like that, they'd be erm... masters of making fridges, it seems not! I'm guessing I should be looking at Bosch? Lievherr? What are brands like LG/Samsung/Kenwood/Hoover like?

Sub-Zero make the best ones you can buy. :D

I’d go for Bosch or Miele if I was to buy tomorrow, I’ve currently got a Samsung french style that I love. I like Bosch stuff and their warranty.

Happy with my Samsung American fridge freezer. Was only £1k, compared to £1.7k on the Samsung website. Has a five year parts and labour warranty with a 20 year on the compressor. It is very quiet..

Paid £750 for a Samsung American fridge freezer 7 years ago. Came with a 10 year warranty, never had to use it, fridge still cools things exceptionally well! Very happy!

Samsung American fridge here, 13 years now, metal around water dispenser rusting and ice compartment stopped working last year but still going strong.

As a former Domestic Appliance Salesperson I'll say Bosch. Dunno if it still applies to all their current models, the Door Seals (when they wear out or get damaged) are very easy to replace or remove and put back if you want to clean them. No tools required. I'd check the model first though.
