Okay I have my new build and it's a 4GHZ I7 920, 5850 and 6GB Ram.

I want a game that will run on my system but I want a sort of strategy game.

I've loved the Command and Conquer series, but not so much last couple of versions so I want new blood. However, because i've had a rubbish PC for last five years I've not really bothered with the latest stuff.

I've loved Age of Empires, Command and Conquer, Sim City and Commandos 2 in the past.

I know of Sup Com, World in Conflict, Napolean: Total War, and many others but not sure what I want. I've never really played them and just seen some reviews and screenshots. WIC does look epic though.

Empire at War of which is Star Wars based looks awesome, but again no idea how it really plays and if it is any good.
I've seen screenshots of the above, but no idea how they play etc.

Company of heroes if you haven't played it and if you buy stand alone tales of valour only you get the full multiplayer aspect, only reason to buy vanilla company of heroes and opposing fronts is for the single player campaigns.

I would also throw in anno 1404 it's not really strategy is more a sim city conquer the seas type game but it is strangely addictive.

Napoleon total war has a demo on steam don't just judge it because of this but it's worth a look, also I would reccomend company of heroes too. Iv got really addicted to dawn of war 2 aswell really good similar to company of heroes but a little more entertaining.

However my favorites will always be total war games. Get rome total war and medieval 2 total war and download some mods.

These are deffinately the two to try. Especially Rome:Total war.

I'd recomend you avoid Empire or Napoleon until you've tried that as many TW fans find them more difficult to get used to (the earlier ones are more action packed and fast paced anyway!)

Same as most of the others

Defnately

Rome Total War (IMHO better than anything since by those guys)
Company of Heroes (Only if you have a goo internet connection as you'll be downloading patches all day)
Battle For Middle Earth 1 and 2, amazing games rarely mentioned by others though

I'm more interested in single player than multi.

I'm getting Half-Life orange box as I've loved Half Life and will love to play EP 1 & 2.

What's the best cinimatic mod for HL2 that's as big free as possible?

I want either COH or WIC - not sure which though.

In addition I want another game with an older feel to it like Anno 1404, Napolean or Empire at War. Again, not sure which.

May get Starcraft 2 in a few months.

OUt of CoH and WiC I'd for single player I'd choose CoH everytime, both great games but WiC single player is too easy and very short.

Re Anno 1404, Empire and Napoleon, I'd get (And have) Anno and Rome 1st(Then Medieval and then Napoleon), I have them all and they really screwed the pooch with EMpire and I would not get that in preference to any of their other games.

TO clarify above, Anno and total war games are very different...get anno and a total war game :)

when its released, get Starcraft 2. have been in the BETA for it and can only give the gameplay compliments!

I liked Renegade for years, but found similarities in Savage2 which is a free game although fantasy setting it is a good strategy game also as you can become commander of a team. Maybe worth a look hard to understand at first but a very good game. www.savage2.com

Go with CoH, then pick up rome and medi eval cheap, once you have finished with those the new peninsula campaign will be out for napoleon which i can't wait for. It's an extra campaign of wellingtons retaking the peninsula and even has partisans which can cause ambushes etc looks really good. (On a side note is their a date for it's release, I know it's this month that is all)

Company of heroes - get anthology which includes all 3 games and very affordable. by far the best rts, single player will keep you going for a long time, and many multi game types to choose from after. then there are some cool mods and custom maps once you've done all that.

WiC was OK, but not nearly as good as CoH

Star Wars Empire at War was rubbish. If you love Star Wars though, then get Galactic Battlegrounds which is basically a reskinned Age of Empires.

Sup Com and Total War - I never liked. I suggest you demo them first to see if you like.

Others not mentionned which are OK are Act Of War and Joint Task Force.

Can't believe how cheap PC games are these days. Just ordered COH and Half Life orange box. Will perhaps get Starcraft in few months.

Thanks for help

You might aswell buy WIC complete edition too....it's like £5-7 now.

COH is better but WIC is pretty damn good for the price and the explosions are excellent.:D
