im looking at building a new gaming computer and have £1200
hoping to make something pretty epic as the budget doesnt include monitor, keyboard, etc... its just the tower

so if someone could spec me one up i would be very greatful

Very similar to above, just a better SSD and more hard drive space at the cost of a slightly worse PSU and cooler.
Cases are personal preference, and there are plenty of good ones to choose from at that price range

fastest single gpu card available.

cant do sli on the motherboard so have toned down the psu to suit.

and one of the fastest SSD in its class.

enough money saved if you need a copy of windows.
 
+1 for both the builds above. Would lean more towards socket 1366 mainly because socket 1156 will be redundant next year, so if you were looking to upgrade your intel chip a few years down the line you'll know you have a motherboard that would be compatible.

you do know that both sockets are being replaced, so either will be a dead end.

hi mate sorry to jump on this thread but i Have got £1200 for a pc and like the look of this few questions though, Are you saying a i5 760 is a better proccessor than a i7 930? and how much extra is it to have a motherboard with sli so I can buy another 480 in the future? in fact how much extra is a i7?

you can take this comparision between the two lower clocked models(750 vs 920) as a good guide- http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/109?vs=47 the 760 and 930 are just one clock multiplier ratio higher each.

remember I am talking about stock speeds here, overclocked things change, I spec'd that overclocked bundle because it was well in budget.

And that overclocked bundle does not have an option to switch motherboards to one capable of crossfire/sli, so you would have to put the components together yourself and overclock yourself.

The I7 series are no better than the I5 series when it comes to gaming. The only reason I bought I7 is because I do a lot of 3d modelling and rendering which takes advantage of the extra cores (hyperthreading) and the extra ram and bandwidth. If you're doing gamage, stick with I5

problem there is you have saved a few £'s on a cpu with less warranty and without a heatsink incase its needed.

and also put a psu not worthy of being in a £1200 build as it doesnt even have enough pci-e connectors for dual graphics cards if its ever needed.

I know psu is a bit =S but he can always change it (sppahire pure?)
